HISTORY OF THE QUATTRO CHARGE
                                                                                                               
Rob Collinge started the Quattro Charge in 2001. Before that he personally contributed much towards his Rhino Charge Sponsorship, all of which went to the Rhino Ark Charity for the fencing of the Aberdare Forest. The Charge was started to raise additional funds for the same cause.

The first event was staged behind the Carnivore Restaurant. The winner was Ian Duncan, and the event raised Kshs. 586,600 for the Rhino Ark.

In 2002,  the second event took place at the Rolf Schmidt Polo Ground at Kitengela, the event raised 722,600/ won by David Dass.

In 2003 Robert Collinge looked for a new site for the event which was becoming very popular. He found the site at Athi River. This is on a disused quarry belonging to the East African Portland Cement Company. The Company kindly agreed that the Quattro Charge could be staged at the quarry which forms a great natural amphitheatre for the toughest sections.   The winner of the event was Rommy Bamrah, and the amount raised climbed to Kshs. 762,590/

In 2004 two events were organized by popular demand , the first, won by Lars Svensson, raised a total of  1,170,300 shillings.  The second Quattro Charge of the year was won by Ivan Smith and raised 1,001,177 shillings.

The first charge of 2005 was won again by Lars Svensson and raised 1,514, 300 shillings.
          
Total to date raised for the Rhino Ark Charitable Trust amounts to: 5,757,567.45 with the last event of the year taking place in August. where, we hope to raise at least 2,000,000/

Rob Collinge himself a fanatic over his Motor Sport hobby, goes back many years, well known as Kenya Juu, has competed in Motor Cycling events, Car Racing, Winner of the Rhino Charge three times, runner up several more, Buggy  Racing,  where he continues to challenge and beat youngsters half his age, was crowned Motor Sportsman of the Year, Rally Champion,  competed in many local rallies, several times in the Safari Rally not least, the Winner of the Classic East African Safari Rally in 2002 and geared up to compete again this year, this event which has entries from all over the world, TV, Radio and Press flock to our beloved Kenya  to cover this event, staged 1st to 10th December..  Cars must be a minimum of  35 years old, hence, it   becomes a Classic Event ,it is a ten day marathon,  traversing Uganda, Tanzania and of course  Kenya.
